Write for the 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ Business Law Meter Blog
The 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ Law Business Meter Blog is recruiting writers/editors for the 2022-2023 academic year. The Meter provides timely commentary on current developments in Canadian and transnational business law. Business law is understood widely and encompasses anything from corporate governance to securities regulation, tax, real estate, banking, property, contract, labor, trade law and beyond. As the world changes at increasing speed, driven by war, a looming energy crisis and rising inflation, staggering socio-economic, gender and racial inequality, amidst geopolitical and technological transformations, an informed engagement with business and the relations between politics, the economy and law is an essential undertaking – in particular for the soon-to-graduate lawyer.ÌýÌý
As a writer for the Meter, you will write generally 800–1,200 word-long pieces that will then be published under your own name on the 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ Business Law Platform. To see the type of work you would be doing, please check-out previous blog entries.ÌýÌý
This is an opportunity to work on a team of like-minded students and to see your writing online. To apply, please submit your CV and a list of 3 topics of current interest (along with a few sentences explaining the topic and its relevance in the current moment) that you would like to develop into a blog for the Meter. Application deadline: Friday October 7th via email to peer.zumbansen [at] mcgill.ca.ÌýÌý
The Meter brings together a small group of excellent and alert students as bloggers, authors and co-editors for their colleagues’ work. Meterists not only gain invaluable writing (+reading+editing) experience but also delve into the most important issues at the moment. In addition, the Business Law Professorship has limited funds to provide an additional financial incentive of 5hrs’ of paid RA work per completed blogpost. The Meter team meets with Professor Zumbansen for an hour every week to update on current and forthcoming posts and to discuss current events. Students in all years are welcome to apply.Ìý
