 oke\, Room 189\n	\n	Abstract: Metacommunity theory aims at defining the mech
 anisms underlying species assemblages observed in nature across a region c
 omposed of multiple local environments. In and by itself\, this requires t
 o carefully account for theory to gather new ecological insights and thus 
 allow researchers to validate or dismiss previously proposed theoretical i
 deas. Yet\, most studies focusing on metacommunities are either theoretica
 l and propose little to no ways to validate new development with data\, or
  focus on empirical finding and only make conceptual references to the the
 ory. In my talk\, I will discuss ways to make stronger links between theor
 y and data through the development of mathematical and statistical tools s
 pecifically designed to approach metacommunity questions using commonly ga
 thered ecological data.\n
