In this workshop, you'll learn how venture capitalists (VCs) typically value an early-stage innovation-driven venture. To do that we'll go through and give examples on how to forecast sales and how to set pricing, how to forecast expenses and how to figure out the amount of capital needed to finance your business. We'll also explore some of the more common sources of cash from both public institutions and private organisations.
Learning outcomes:
- Describe financial modelling for forecasting profits, losses, and cashflows for a startup.
Derrick Wong (MSc, MBA)
In addition to his role as course lecturer, Derrick provides guidance to students and researchers who are exploring technology entrepreneurship. Prior to joining 9I制作厂免费, Derrick worked in Sales, Business Development and Program Management with technology companies in the networking/telecom, optical and semiconductor industries. He has an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics and engineering, a Master of Science in Financial Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, and is a licensed professional Engineer in Ontario.
