Diversifying the Judiciary
Are you a law student or articling student?
Ever wondered what qualifications are necessary to be considered for a judicial appointment?
Could you one day become a judge?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may want to consider judicial service as a legal career option.聽 It is your profession and your judiciary, so why not be a part of it!
The Equal Opportunity Committee of the Ontario Bar Association and the Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee invite you to a reception and information session to discuss the judicial appointments process.聽 Appointment to the Ontario Court of Justice is merit based.聽 However, it is desirable that the Bench be reflective of Ontario鈥檚 diversity.聽 Listen to the experiences and insights of sitting judges and obtain the necessary information to begin charting your path to the Bench.
This information session will be held on October 26, 2009 at the Ontario Bar Association Conference Centre at 20聽Toronto Street, 2nd Floor, Toronto, between 5:30 and 8:00 p.m.聽 Please call Priscilla Chu at the Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee at (416) 326-4060 to confirm your attendance.
This event will be of particular benefit to those who have been historically disadvantaged in the legal profession.聽 Members of equality seeking communities are encouraged to attend.
