Edward Lear (1812-1888), known today primarily as the author of literary nonsense and limericks, was also a notable ornithologist.
Rare Books and Special Collections holds a collection of his original drawings and watercolours. A selection of them is currently on view in the fourth floor lobby of the McLennan Library.
Robert M. Peck, Senior Fellow, Academy of Natural Sciences, Drexel University, is a writer, naturalist, and historian who has written extensively on ornithology and natural history.Ìý He has recently published The Natural History of Edward Lear.
