Safer Spaces: Issues in Race and Culture
听
This workshop provides participants already familiar with the
basic terminology and concepts of cultural and racial diversity
with a more in-depth engagement with these and other ideas. Through
the PCS model of analysis, which examines personal, cultural, and
structural levels of impact, participants will have the opportunity
to examine how race and culture affect daily life in the 9I制作厂免费
community.
These three levels of impact are applied to the challenges of
fostering diversity-receptive cultural attitudes, reducing
structural barriers in University life, and building and
maintaining safe and respectful spaces for interpersonal
engagement. By working through examination of the power of words,
stereotypes, and assumptions, the workshop also provides an
empowered, individual-centred set of tools for addressing these
challenges.
