School of Information Studies Presentation: Modeling Users and Knowledge for Human Information Interaction. Dr. Jae-wook Ahn

Monday, June 4, 2012 10:00to12:00
Room 106, SIS Mansion, 3661 Peel, Room 106, SIS Mansion, 3661 Peel, CA

Modeling user interests, their knowledge, and tasks is becoming more important for modern context-aware information access systems and digital libraries. However, many approaches still rely on computational algorithms which are hidden from users and do not allow proactive user interaction.

This presentation will introduce research projects which construct highly interactive user models using open/transparent user model methods, visualization, and semantic knowledge representation. Lessons learned from user studies will also be discussed in addition to future research plans.

The talk will be given by Dr. Jae-wook Ahn, NSF/CRA Postdoctoral Computing Innovation Fellow, Human-Computer Interaction Lab, University of Maryland at College Park.

Everyone is welcome.
