November 28 = Buy Nothing Day! Two short movies:
The Story of Stuff (2007)
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff
in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of
this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff exposes the
connections between a huge number of environmental and social
issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just
world.
No Logo (2003) In the age of the brand, logos are everywhere. But why do some of the world's best-known brands find themselves on the wrong end of the spray paint can — the targets of anti-corporate campaigns by activists and protestors? Based on the best-selling book by Canadian journalist and activist Naomi Klein, this film reveals the reasons behind the backlash against the increasing economic and cultural reach of multinational companies.
