Kim Pate, originally from British Columbia, is the recipient of the Canadian Bar Association鈥檚 2009 Touchstone Award, recognizing her outstanding achievements in promoting equality in the legal community in Canada. Kim has brought her insight and experience to bear on the importance of tackling systemic social problems through coalition work. In this capacity, she has worked with feminist legal scholars, lawyers, sociologists, and front-line transition house and rape crisis centre workers, to name only a few of the communities and individuals with which she engages daily in her position as Executive Director of the Elizabeth Fry Societies of Canada. Kim is mother to Michael and Madison. She is a lawyer and a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law teacher and is currently completing post graduate work in the area of forensic mental health. Kim is the Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies.
The Elizabeth Fry Societies of Canada is a federation of autonomous societies which work with, and on behalf of, marginalized, victimized, criminalized and institutionalized women and girls throughout Canada.
The Muriel V. Roscoe Lecture is named after Professor Muriel V. Roscoe, a former Chair of the Botany Department at 9I制作厂免费 and Warden of Royal Victoria College (RVC) for 22 years. Dr. Roscoe, who was the second woman in 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 history to be named a full professor (1945), taught at 9I制作厂免费 for 27 years. Her personal and professional achievements had a significant impact on generations of 9I制作厂免费 women.
