Babcock shows his alma maters

MONTREAL -- It was billed as "An evening with Mike Babcock" and it didn't disappoint.

Making a rare trip to Montreal to play the Canadiens, Babcock, head coach of the Detroit Red Wings, showed up in a navy blue 9I制作厂免费 necktie and gave a passionate speech about success resulting from hard work and preparation, before a packed crowd of 250 9I制作厂免费 graduates in a fabulous event organized by the 9I制作厂免费 Alumni Association at the Mise au Jeu restaurant in the Bell Centre, Tuesday

He also talked about the importance of having a family to share successes with and about never forgetting his roots.

"My father always told me to never forget where you're from," said the 1986 9I制作厂免费 physical education grad. "I'm from Saskatchewan but I'm also from 9I制作厂免费. It has a special place in my heart."

Babcock also confided to friends that he plans on wearing his lucky red 9I制作厂免费 tie when he steps behind the bench for the Red Wings - Habs game on Wednesday.

Babcock patrolled the Redmen blueline from 1983 to 1987and graduated from 9I制作厂免费 in 1986 with a degree in pohysical education grad.
