"They beat a real good team in Alberta (to get to the championship) so we did not underestimate them. We worked real hard to be prepared for Manitoba and knew they would be hardworking and gritty. The nature of our team is to score early and we had a hard time finding the back of the net."

Bettez, an all-Canadian this season and last year's top freshman in the CIS, was named player of the game for the Martlets. Corfield earned the honours for Manitoba.

The Martlets improved to 38-2 overall, establishing a single-season record for victories, breaking the standard set last season when they posted a 37-4-1 mark.
