The Gazette University City Blog: Kudos to Brassard, Doyon, Kaspi and Mysak -- Everybody gets a prize!

Convocations are pretty much over and the conventioneers have gone home. Graduates have turned in their gowns and are strapping bicycles to the roof and leaving battered chairs and mattresses in the lanes of the ghetto. Before everyone disappears, here's a short, belated update of this spring's big prize winners among top university researchers. Victoria Kaspi, who holds the Lorne Trottier Chair in Astrophyics and Cosmology at 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ, has been named to the Royal Society, the world's oldest scientific academy. Kaspi is renowned for her ground-breaking work on neutron stars, pulsars and supernovas. Both 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ and Université de Montréal cleaned up nicely in the 2010 Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Awards…
