MONTREAL -- Benjamin Thompson, a
fifth-year veteran lineman with the 9I制作厂免费 Redmen, has
been named to the RSEQ football all-star team for the second
consecutive season. The all-stars were announced Wednesday by the
R茅seau du sport 茅tudiant du Qu茅bec.
听
Thompson, a 6-foot-1, 275 defensive tackle from Fredericton, was the only 9I制作厂免费 player selected.Despite being double-teamed every outing, he registered 36.5 tackles in nine games, including 27 solos, 12 for loss and two quarterback sacks.
听
Overlooked in the voting, conducted by the conference's six head coaches, was 9I制作厂免费 punter Tomas Silva, who led the league with a 40.5 average per punt. Instead, the selection went to Sherbrooke's William Dion, who was third in the league with a 38.6 average.
听
Division-leading Laval topped all universities with nine picks, followed by Sherbrooke (7), Montreal (5), Concordia (5), Bishop's (2) and 9I制作厂免费 (1).
听
The major award winners will be announced in a press conference on Monday (11 a.m.) at Tomlinson Hall in the 9I制作厂免费 Sports Centre, 475 Pine Avenue West.
