A new U.S. study that suggests extrasensory perception鈥攁lso known as ESP鈥攎ay be real is causing a stir in academic circles ahead of its publication in a prominent journal of psychology.
Many Canadian academics were reluctant to offer an opinion on this research, given its unconventional nature. Albert Bregman, a retired psychology professor of 9I制作厂免费 University in Montreal, said Bem鈥檚 methodology and statistical verification seem sound, and he鈥檚 in favour of its publication. However, he said the research still leaves many questions unanswered.
鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to think how one could go past what is done, which is merely to show statistical significance for tests to the effect,鈥 he said. 鈥淚f all we knew about atoms is that they existed, we wouldn鈥檛 have much use out of that information.鈥
