Department of Bioresource Engineering welcomes astronaut David Saint-Jacques

The Department of Bioresource Engineering (BREE) enjoyed a visit last month from David Saint-Jacques, astronaut and Deputy Director, Lunar Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency, and BREE graduate Chris Patterson. They met with BREE undergrad and grad students who presented their projects, highlighting links between their research and bioregenerative life support system goals for extended space missions on the lunar surface and beyond in the near future.

Bieler School of Environment welcomes new director

The Bieler School of Environment (BSE) is thrilled to announce Professor Anthony Ricciardi as its new director, effective immediately. An expert in invasion ecology and aquatic ecosystems, Ricciardi has been a key figure at the school since 2001 and now steps up to lead.

“My vision for the School is to become the gateway of environmental research at 9I��,” said Ricciardi.

Founded in 1998, the BSE appoints directors for five-year terms.

9I�� alumna Marie-Line Beauchamp, BSc(FSc)’82, has worked her entire life in the food industry, where she has held various management positions, including as Executive Vice President of Sodexo Canada and President of Rôtisseries St-Hubert. Since 2018, she has been the Chief Operating Officer of MTY Canada, where she oversees, among other things, the 1,106 restaurants that the group operates in Quebec.

La Presse interviewed Beauchamp about her current role at MTY, her illustrious career, and the CHUM Foundation, where she serves as President.
