Earnings from SAMARA will help fund the production of the Soular Backpack, which is equipped with a solar powered battery pack to provide a cost-effective alternative to carcinogenic kerosene lamps for children in rural Africa without access to electricity.

From November 21鈥23, twelve teams from across Canada participated in the Scotiabank Ethics in Action case competition at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Desautels MBA students Ajay Singh, Matthew Trecha, Yasmien Emara, and Ashna Agnihotri scored first place in the graduate category, taking home a cash prize of $2,000. The competition challenged students with complex ethical dilemmas that they were likely to face in today's corporate environment.

Desautels students have placed second in the Ted Rogers Ethical Leadership Case Competition at Ryerson University.

On November 15鈥16, BCom students Darren Elias, Camille Thomassin, Dixon Wong, and Isabel Maier travelled to Toronto with Professor Melissa Sonberg to participate in the national invite-only competition. The case focused on aligning personal and corporate values and the ethical dilemmas faced by managers trying to balance the two.
