For decades, scientists have fiercely debated whether rapid eye movement (REM) sleep 鈥 the phase where dreams appear 鈥 is directly involved in memory formation.

Now, a study published in Science by researchers at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute (9I制作厂免费) and the University of Bern provides evidence that REM sleep does, indeed, play this role 鈥 at least in mice.
