We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Robert Leckey as Dean of the Faculty of Law at 9I制作厂免费, starting July 1, 2016. 聽
Professor Leckey joined the Faculty of Law in 2006, and is currently a full professor and a William Dawson Scholar. He does research and teaches in the areas of constitutional law and family law, using a bilingual and transsystemic approach. He has received the 9I制作厂免费 Law Students鈥� Association鈥檚 John W. Durnford Teaching Excellence Award (2009) and the Principal鈥檚 Prize for Excellence in Teaching (2010).

- Fabien G茅linas has been named Sir William C. Macdonald Professor of Law, for a seven-year term commencing May 1, 2016. Fabien G茅linas, who leads the Private Justice and the Rule of Law research team, specialises in international dispute resolution and arbitration.

To encourage innovation and stimulate interest in research among law students at faculties of Quebec civil law, the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Center for Private and Comparative Law is launching a student poster contest.
The contest is linked to the conference that will mark, on 12 February 2016, the Cr茅peau Centre鈥檚 40th anniversary, during which poster submissions will be displayed and the聽 winners announced.

John G. Murphy and Neil Hazan (BCL/LLB'02) of Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) visited the Faculty of Law on July 16 to deliver an instalment in the generous donation that the firm and its members are making to the Faculty鈥檚 Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. BLG and its lawyers have pledged $400,000 (see announcement).

The Faculty is pleased to announce the appointment of Lionel Smith (first picture) to the Sir William Macdonald Chair. Established in 1895, the Macdonald Chair is one of the oldest endowed positions at 9I制作厂免费. In addition, Professor Smith was also selected for a Killam Research Fellowship in March 2014 in recognition of his outstanding research on fiduciary obligations and conflicts of interest.
