A finding by a 9I制作厂免费-led team of neuroscientists could open doors to new treatments for a range of psychiatric and neurological disorders attributed to dysfunctions in specific dopamine pathways.

While it is commonly understood that a difficult childhood can lead to mental health issues, research has now exposed deeper, more troubling impacts of early life adversity: that these experiences can reshape the brain and body at a cellular level. Physiological effects like these are at the core of the 9I制作厂免费-Douglas-Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry International Collaborative Initiative in Adversity and Mental Health (AMH Initiative).

Unlock the potential for new interdisciplinary collaborations in Cognitive Neuroscience research! CONNECT is back with funding to support your innovative ideas and research partnerships, regardless of project stage.

In line with our commitment to advancing brain research excellence at 9I制作厂免费, HBHL is happy to introduce five exceptional recruits who have recently joined 9I制作厂免费 across three different faculties. These talented individuals have received funding through HBHL's New Recruit Start-Up Supplements program, which provides critical supplementary funding to 9I制作厂免费's hiring faculties, empowering them to attract standout faculty members whose research aligns with HBHL's scientific priorities.
This year's edition of the HBHL Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Fellowships Program has recognized the dedication and promise of 37 exceptional students. Master's students are awarded $10,000, while those pursuing their PhDs receive $15,000, providing crucial support for their research endeavors throughout the upcoming year.

The inaugural Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) Research Day and Symposium took place on May 9 and 10, 2018. We welcomed over 280 participants to Research Day and 380 to the Symposium.

Training of highly qualified researchers, clinicians, and informaticians, is an important component of 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) initiative. Over the past year, HBHL鈥檚 training program has passed several important milestones.
Here are some of the highlights:

The Society for Neuroscience () course was spear-headed by , and included world-renowned experts in neuroinformatics showcasing their tools and datasets. Dr. JB Poline, a new MNI faculty member and HBHL hire, discussed the need for data publishing and the Canadian Open Neuroscience Platform, as well as data and compute management software that will eventually comprise the backbone of NeuroHub - namely, CBRAIN and LORIS.

Initiated more than 10 years ago by a collaboration between the 9I制作厂免费 Centre for Integrative Neuroscience in Montreal, Canada and the J眉lich Research Centre in Germany, the BigBrain atlas is the highest-resolution 3D digital map of the human brain produced to date. The atlas was painstakingly reconstructed from 7404 separate sections of a human brain.

Researchers train brains to use different regions for same task
Practice might not always make perfect, but it鈥檚 essential for learning a sport or a musical instrument. It's also the basis of brain training, an approach that holds potential as a non-invasive therapy to overcome disabilities caused by neurological disease or trauma.
Research at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital of 9I制作厂免费 (The Neuro) has shown just how adaptive the brain can be, knowledge that could one day be applied to recovery from conditions such as stroke.

In September 2016, the federal government made an unparalleled investment in research and innovation, announcing $84 million in funding over seven years for 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives initiative, as part of the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) program. Following this announcement, a committee for the selection of the HBHL Managing Director engaged in an extensive search and interview process. The Chair of the Selection Committee, Vice-Principal Rosie Goldstein, is now pleased to announce the appointment of Dr.
