Writing Your teaching Philosophy Statement
A teaching philosophy statement (TPS) is a short (1-2 page) personal narrative describing your approach to teaching and learning. It is often a crucial part of a teaching portfolio and job application for an academic position. It is an essential first step in building a reflective and intentional approach to teaching and a tool to monitor your growth as an educator.聽聽
Before the workshop, the organizers will send you resources and relevant examples of teaching philosophy statements, so you can begin to reflect on what defines your teaching approach.聽聽聽
During the workshop, we will work on refining and creating your teaching philosophy statement (or part of it). The workshop facilitators will provide feedback on your statement in the weeks following the workshop.
Note: this event is for Chemistry graduate students. This Chem TAP workshop can count toward fulfilling TA workload hours for training and professional development. If you've already completed your hours, you are still welcome to attend and participate!聽
