Spiritual Solitudes: Liberal Religion in a Secular Quebec

This talk explores the history and future of religion in Quebec, from the vantage point of a liberal religious leader. The primary image of religion in Quebec is of Catholicism, rejected in favour of secularism in the Quiet Revolution. But what place might there be for a different kind of religion in present-day Quebec? What is the landscape, in particular, of liberal Judaism 鈥� a minority within a minority 鈥� and what insights can this experience offer?
Rabbi Lisa Grushcow was ordained in 2003 by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. As a student, Rabbi Grushcow was a Wexner Graduate Fellow, and received numerous awards in homiletics, Rabbinics, liturgy, philosophy, and other areas. She studied in Oxford for three years as a Rhodes Scholar, completing a Master鈥檚 degree in Judaism and Christianity in the Greco-Roman World, and a Doctorate in Rabbinics. While in Europe, she was active in Jewish-Christian-Muslim interfaith dialogue and European liberal Judaism. Her undergraduate degree is from 9I制作厂免费.
