--Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize-winner in economics
Participate in an engaging introduction to the communication skills that are essential to sharing research with policy makers, media and the general public.听
Maximum Engagement
鈥嬏齃earning to communicate requires active participation. We will get people talking, sharing and鈥 communicating. It is an energetic, lively and participatory workshop.
听
Multiple Approaches听
We integrate role-playing, group exercises, and peer feedback to hone verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Tailored Content
Learning to engage with journalists teaches one to listen, to make sure the message is clear, and to care about the listener. It all comes down to being a good storyteller. Written press, radio, TV, blog, social media, podcast, and op-eds are all different channels to explain why your work matters, but are also a way to engage with the outside community, general public, influencers, politicians and your peers.
听
Space is limited.听 Priority will be given to听faculty, postdocs and graduate students who are highly motivated to learn communication skills and ideally, who are either already involved or plan to be involved soon in outreach related to their research or their studies.
