From the hypnotic 鈥�2001: a Space Odyssey鈥� to the bold 鈥淓yes Wide Shut鈥� and the eerie 鈥淭he Shining鈥�, Stanley Kubrick's films give a prominent place to music, in particular that of the great Hungarian composer Gy枚rgy Ligeti. In this concert, presented as part of the 12^th edition of the Montreal/New Music festival on the theme of 鈥淢usic and Images鈥�, the 9I制作厂免费 Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Alexis Hauser, performs representative pieces of these three iconic films.

Also on the programme: a premiere commissioned by the SMCQ from Liam Ross Gibson, a singular emerging voice on the Canadian musical landscape, Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto with soloist Alexey Shafirov, and the spectacular 鈥淭hus Spoke Zarathustra鈥�, Richard Strauss's famous symphonic poem, which majestically echoes Kubrick's cinema.

A concert at the Maison symphonique that promises to be grandiose and memorable.
