The talks will highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology\, co gnitive neuroscience\, and neuroimaging.\n\nSpeakers will include scientis ts from across The Neuro\, as well as colleagues and collaborators locally and from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual fo rum for scientists and trainees to continue to foster interdisciplinary ex changes on the mechanisms\, diagnosis and treatment of brain and cognitive disorders.\n\n\nRegister for In-Person\n\nTo watch online\, click here\n \nHost: Justine Cléry\n\n\nFrom Agents to Actions\, to Interactions\, to S ocieties: Primates’ Brain Networks for Social Processing\n\nAbstract: Reco gnizing agents\, their actions\, and their interactions is essential for u nderstanding the world around us. Using functional Magnetic Resonance Imag ing\, we discovered in the macaque monkey brain a network of areas centere d on the medial and ventrolateral prefrontal cortex that is selectively en gaged in social interaction analysis. Its extent and location suggest that this function is an evolutionary forerunner of human mind-reading capabil ities. A comparative fMRI investigation in humans additionally revealed wh ich neural strategies adapted to the needs of each species\, and emphasize d human interest in understanding actions of our peers directed towards ob jects. Together these studies show how our primate brains continuously dec ode the complex visual scenes unwinding in front of us: both the nature of material entities\, such as individuals and objects\, and their immateria l interactions.\n\nJulia Sliwa\n\nCNRS Investigator\,Paris Brain Institute \, Sorbonne Universite\n\n\n\nJulia Sliwa has been recruited as a CNRS Inv estigator at the Paris Brain Institute in 2019\, where she leads the team Neurophysiology of Social Cognition.
