Professor Suzanne Fortier, 9I制作厂免费 Principal and Vice-Chancellor, is elated to see her university moving forward with 鈥渁 project that will bring all Montrealers together. For us, this initiative is about building upon 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 academic strengths and identity as a world-class institution, as well as adding functionality, now and for the future.鈥澨
For Robert Po毛ti, Minister of Transport and Minister responsible for the Montreal region, 鈥淭his is good news for Montrealers, especially in light of the value of this landmark building in terms of heritage, architecture and identity in the heart of the city. Our government feels that converting the Royal Victoria Hospital is sure to help re-energize the urban fabric for the greater benefit of Montreal鈥檚 entire population.鈥
In terms of scheduling, it will take some 18 months to complete these feasibility studies and put together a file on the project鈥檚 advisability. Based on the resulting facts and figures, the government and the university will then be able to decide whether it is opportune to pursue the project before developing a definitive business case enabling construction to start at the earliest possible opportunity.
This unique urbanistic plan will provide Montrealers with a new access to Mount Royal, and the university would very much like the project鈥檚 sod-turning ceremony to coincide with its 200th anniversary celebrations in 2021.
