Pow-wow to transform lower campus
Daylong event celebrates aboriginal culture
9I制作厂免费 and First Peoples' House proudly present the Fifth Annual Pow-wow concert and education day, celebrating the art and culture of indigenous peoples, on Thursday, September 21.
9I制作厂免费's lower campus will be adorned with teepees, drums, native kiosks and education circles for five of 9I制作厂免费's faculties; nursing, social work, law, medicine and education. These circles will provide information sessions for prospective students. The daylong event will also feature traditional dances, native-made crafts, hoop dancing demonstrations and a fashion show. Free concerts featuring Hopi reggae star Casper Loymayesva, local artists DJ Nycness, Kahnawake's Souled and Andean supergroup Colores Andinos will round out the festivities.

"This is a great opportunity to experience aboriginal culture in all its aspects," says Waneek Horn-Miller, coordinator of the First Peoples' House. "It's a celebration of our traditions as well as recognizing our more contemporary expressions."
