Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) staff, Dave Bowen (Team Leader, Environmental Sciences [ES]), Tiffany Lancaster (Program Officer, ES), Kenn Rankine (Program Officer, ES), with current Evaluation Group members from 9I制作厂免费, will be holding a 2-hour Information Session to provide an update on what is new at NSERC, the latest competition results from the 2015 Discovery Grants Program, as well as an overview of the Discovery Grant process including tips on 鈥淲riting a Successful Discovery Grant鈥�.听 Questions and answers will be welcome throughout. You are encouraged to attend this outreach session if you are planning to apply to this year鈥檚 competition.

The Discovery Grants Program assists in:

鈥� promoting and maintaining a diversified base of high-quality research capability in the natural sciences and engineering in Canadian universities;
鈥� fostering research excellence; and
鈥� providing a stimulating environment for research training.

The Discovery Grants Program supports ongoing programs of research (with long-term goals) rather than a single short-term project or collection of projects. These grants recognize the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all research advances, whether made individually or in teams. Researchers are free to work in the mode most appropriate for the research area.

Recipients of Discovery Grants are not restricted to the specific activities described in the application, but may pursue new research interests, provided they are within NSERC鈥檚 mandate.
