In recent decades\, Canada has seen a rise in the fr equency\, duration\, and intensity of heat waves. In order to provide pati ent care and health care delivery with broader strategies for mitigating a nd adapting to rising temperatures\, a comprehensive understanding of the wide range of health impacts of extreme heat exposure is crucial. This pre sentation will summarize the epidemiological evidence on the health risks associated with heat\, its disproportionate impact on vulnerable populatio ns\, and the protection strategies that can be taken at both the individua l and community-level to prevent these risks.\n\nSpeaker Biography:\n\nEri c Lavigne is a Research Scientist with Health Canada and an Adjunct Profes sor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of O ttawa. His research interests include the interconnections between air pol lution and climate change\, particularly in the context of early life expo sure and children's health. The research is aimed at being policy-relevant and contributing to well-informed decision-making to improve the protecti on of human health.\n\nRegistration\n DTSTART:20250429T160000Z DTEND:20250429T170000Z LOCATION:2001 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ College Avenue\, 11th floor\, room 1140 or via ZOOM SUMMARY:Climate change\, extreme heat\, and health URL:/spgh/channels/event/climate-change-extreme-heat-a nd-health-362527 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
