Families and New Technologies is the theme chosen by the United Nations for this year鈥檚 International Day of Families.

Need to step up your health and fitness? 9I制作厂免费 Education's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education is offering personalized at-home fitness sessions via Zoom for members of the 9I制作厂免费 Community! Kinesiology students will craft your fitness routine using your existing at-home equipment and household items.

As part of their internship, these students (supervised by a staff kinesiologist) will guide you through a one-hour workout twice a week for ten weeks (cost: $60 flat fee), to improve your strength, flexibility and overall physical health.

Karissa Leduc, a PhD candidate in the Human Development Program supervised by Dr. Victoria Talwar, has won the competitive Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Child Psychology Graduate Student Fellowship from the American Psychological Foundation.

This prestigious fellowship is awarded to promising young scholars to pursue innovative research in the area of child psychology.

While kids may be resilient, the pandemic is testing the limits of that resilience.

Children and teens are dealing with a toxic cocktail of stressors and it's hurting them. According to a听听from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, 70 percent of children and youth surveyed experienced a deterioration of mental health in the first wave of the pandemic.

Language is the building blocks of literacy. In this project, we aim to find out the relationship between ability to understand from spoken language and text in bilingual children, adolescents, and adults.

9I制作厂免费 researcher, Dr. Gigi Luk at Educational and Counselling Psychology, is looking for children (ages 6-9) and adolescents (ages 12-15) to understand how language and reading are related and develop in bilingual individuals.

Every new parent knows that their sleep suffers when they have children, and there鈥檚 evidence that may not get better for a while. However, a study led by Marie-H茅l猫ne Pennestri, an assistant professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, on parents and sleep, showed no association between interrupted sleep and later cognitive or physical development problems.

Dr. Nancy Heath, of the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, was recently interviewed on CBC Radio Noon Quebec with Shawn Apel, about students' needs of social connections and their mental health.

Lack of these connections is a key part of mental health, and though not all students feel that classrooms are a safe way to keep these connections, Dr. Heath wonders if there are outside options that would give young people a safer way to connect while maintaining distancing to rebuild their normal connections.
