The Faculty of Law is pleased to congratulate Professor Ronald Niezen on his appointment as 2018-2019 William Lyon Mackenzie King Chair of Canadian Studies at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. During his one-year leave from 9I制作厂免费, Professor Niezen will continue his research on the popular communication of human rights claims, while teaching courses in the Department of Anthropology on The Anthropology of Law and on Indigeneity, Rights, and Identity.

Ignacio Cofone's research explores how private law regulates information and what are the social consequences of these regulatory choices. Bringing together information privacy, contract law, and behavioral economics, his work has been published in law journals in Europe, South America, and the United States.
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Fabien G茅linas, Ad.E., Sir William C. Macdonald Chair, was appointed聽Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Scholar in Arbitration and Commercial Law for a one-year term. Professor G茅linas was one of the inaugural recipients of this award in 2013. He joins his colleague Professor Kun Fan, who is entering the second year of a three-year appointment.

The Faculty of Law and the 9I制作厂免费 Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL) learned with deep sadness of the passing of IASL Director Emeritus Professor Dr. Michael Milde, at age 87.聽
Prior to his academic career at 9I制作厂免费, Professor Milde served in senior legal posts at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for 25 years (1966-1991). There he oversaw the negotiation of a number of international conventions and protocols on aviation safety and security, the significance of which resonates to this day.
On May 31, the Honourable Juanita Westmoreland-Traor茅 will receive a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, and give the commencement address at the Faculty of Law鈥檚 convocation ceremony. 聽
Westmoreland-Traor茅 is the first African Canadian appointed judge in the history of Quebec. She also holds the distinction of being the first African Canadian law dean after her 1996 appointment at the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor. In 2012, she retired from the Court of Qu茅bec and sat as a supernumerary judge until 2017.
In the 2018 World University Rankings by Subject published by Quacquarelli Symonds, 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 Faculty of Law placed 23rd best place to study law worldwide, slightly up from the 25th rank in 2017. Since the ranking was introduced by QS in 2011, the Faculty of Law has consistently secured a spot in the global top 35. The QS ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, H-index citations, and citations per paper.
