On May 30, 2016, members of the 9I制作厂免费 and Montreal community gathered for the launch of the聽Social Innovators' Integration Lab (SIIL).听The SIIL research project, located at聽Le Salon 1861聽in the heart of Montreal's Quartier de l鈥橧nnovation, is dedicated to develop scientific and practical knowledge around the social economy, social entrepreneurship and social innovation in urban environments.

"Every semester, 9I制作厂免费 faculty lecturer聽Anita Nowak challenges her students to come up with projects for her social entrepreneurship and social innovation class based on a theme that she finds particularly timely and relevant.
For this semester, it was helping Syrian refugees integrate into Canadian society.

The Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management鈥檚聽Social Economy Initiative is pleased to welcome Dr. Julie Rijpens as the new Post-Doctoral Fellow for the聽Social Innovators鈥 Integration Lab (SIIL).听
Many people are offering help to Syrian refugees after they arrive in Quebec, but students are reaching out to refugees while they remain overseas.
...听"We're filling that void," said Anita Nowak.
The Mentor-in-Residence at 9I制作厂免费 said the image of Alan Kurdi, the young Syrian boy who drowned trying to make it to Turkey, motivated them to reach out overseas.

The third installation of聽9I制作厂免费 Innovation Week took place in聽November 2015, featuring聽nineteen events which integrated聽9I制作厂免费 students and faculty with the local Montreal innovation community.听

On November 13, 2015, the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) and the Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship co-sponsored a half-day workshop on social entrepreneurship. Entitled 鈥淪ocial Entrepreneurship: Designing your career, your enterprise, and your impact鈥, the event featured a broad range of attendees 鈥 from those new to the concept of entrepreneurship to established entrepreneurs.

The most important challenges faced by society and managers in contemporary organizations, be they private, public or not-for-profit, are closely related. They do not respect disciplinary boundaries and cannot be adequately tackled with knowledge from just one management function or university faculty. The Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM)鈥檚 mandate is to address these challenges by developing an integrated approach to management - one that breaks down disciplinary barriers, embraces multiple perspectives and encourages holistic thinking about organizations.

The SEI Impact Internship Program pairs top undergraduate students who offer various skills and managerial support with social-purpose organizations (i.e. non-profits and social enterprises) for ten weeks over the summer.

The Social Economy Initiative in partnership with the 9I制作厂免费 Quartier de l鈥橧nnovation (QI) team invites 9I制作厂免费 student (graduate and undergraduate) applications to a part-time 6-month internship developing a case study on 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 partnership and involvement with the Salon 1861 (Gestion immobili猫re Quo Vadis).听
The project will be co-supervised by Desautels Professors Emmanuelle Vaast and Ruthanne Huising with support from Ms. Isabelle P茅an of the 9I制作厂免费 QI team.
