Rima Qureshi鈥檚 (BCom鈥87, MBA鈥96) career has taken her to Stockholm, Dallas and New York, but she retains strong connections to Montreal and 9I制作厂免费. Now the Executive Vice President and Strategy Officer at Verizon in New York, Qureshi began her career with Ericsson, and helped the company integrate thousands of new employees when it acquired parts of Nortel. Qureshi returns regularly to Montreal to spend time with family and mentors MBA students at Desautels.

A landmark donation to support 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 renowned genomics research and education programs from UK-based alumnus and long-time donor Victor Dahdaleh is a catalyst for advancements in genomics research. Thanks to gifts from Victor Dahdaleh totalling more than $30 million, 9I制作厂免费 will launch the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Institute of Genomic Medicine.
Many service-oriented businesses suffered during the pandemic, but it was a boon for Paper, an online tutoring company. Led by Philip Cutler (BEd鈥13) and Roberto Cipriani (BSc鈥08), the company was a finalist in the 2014 Dobson Cup, an annual start-up competition that fosters entrepreneurship and gives cash awards to the best budding businesses. Today, Paper counts more than 450 staff, and over 2,200 tutors.

The Faculty of Science Excellence Awards recognize outstanding performance and contributions made by members of the Faculty鈥檚 administrative and support staff classified in four categories: Academic Associate, Clerical, Management, and Technical. The committee, comprised of staff members from each department, received nominations for three of these categories.

Serving more than two million students across 30 states, Paper鈥檚 mission is to offer flexible academic support to ensure all students have the tools they need to succeed in and out of the classroom.

Midway through her doctoral thesis research at 9I制作厂免费, Anita Nowak (BCom鈥97, PhD鈥11) discovered a deep passion for supporting social and environmental innovators. With the encouragement of former faculty member Dr. Michael Hoechsmann, she zeroed in on empathy as the driving force for entrepreneurial success and developed a 鈥淧edagogy of Empathic听Action.鈥 This early research continues to inform her work as a global expert in empathy and adjunct lecturer at Desautels.
