The Wirth Vocal Prize in vocal performance was established in 2015 through the extraordinary generosity of Elizabeth Wirth to the Schulich School of Music of 9I制作厂免费, along with new Student Excellence Awards, and an innovative Student Initiatives Fund. Awarded yearly since its inception, the Wirth Vocal Prize recognizes a voice student who demonstrates exceptional talent and significant promise for an international career.

The Prix Opus was created in 1996 by the Conseil qu茅b茅cois de la musique (CQM) to highlight the excellence, vitality, and diversity of Qu茅bec鈥檚 thriving music scene and to celebrate artists within the community. The awards highlight outstanding achievements in concert music, compositions, productions, and recordings.聽

We are pleased to announce that the聽three finalists聽for the聽2022-2023 Golden Violin Award聽are violist Gene Hotta, and violinists JuEun Lee and Fr茅d茅ric Pouliot.
These string players were selected following an incredible semifinal round held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Pollack Hall where seven semifinalists each performed a 30-minute program of music before only three were selected by a jury to continue through to the finals.聽

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Riddell, CM on November 6, 2022.
Wayne Riddell graduated from 9I制作厂免费 with a Bachelor of Music in 1960, was a Faculty Member of the Schulich School of Music from 1968鈥1980, an Honorary Doctorate in Music recipient in 2014 and member of the Schulich School of Music Faculty Advisory Board for over 20 years. His impact was profound,聽and his legacy will not soon be forgotten. 聽聽

Christopher Ducasse is the Fall 2022 recipient of the Program to Support Graduate Conducting Students in the Study and Performance of Music by Composers from Underrepresented Groups. This 3-year pilot initiative is a collaboration between the Schulich School of Music, the Marvin Duchow Music Library and its Gertrude Whitley Performance Library.

On September 24, 2022, Prof. Alexis Hauser was honoured by his home country of Austria. Maestro Hauser received the Decoration of Honour in Gold for services to the Republic of Austria (Das grosse Ehrenzeichen in Gold fuer Verdienste um die Republik Oesterreich), presented by the Austrian Ambassador, Her Excellency, Magister Sylvia Meyer-Kajbic. 聽

Congratulations to Early Music graduates Guillaume Villeneuve (Gr. Dip in Performance鈥20), Tristan Best (BMus鈥19, MMus鈥21), and S茅bastien Mitra (BMus鈥18), who were awarded First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize, respectively, at the 聽of the this July 2022.

Congratulations to Prof. Stephen McAdams, who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the (SMPC) on August 4, 2022. The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates outstanding contributions from a researcher to the field of music perception and cognition, carrying with it a lifetime membership in the SMPC.聽聽

The Schulich School of Music welcomes Dr. Liliana S. Ara煤jo, Dr. Ellen Bakulina and Dr. Isabelle Demers to聽the Faculty this Fall 2022.
