The Indo-Pacific: Canadian and Indian Perspectives | CIPSS Speaker Winter Series

Tuesday, March 25, 2025 15:00to17:00
Leacock Building Room 232, 855 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 2T7, CA

As the Indo-Pacific region becomes increasingly significant amid rising geopolitical and geo-economic uncertainties, understanding India鈥檚 role as a rising power and economic powerhouse is more crucial than ever. While Canada-India relations have faced diplomatic challenges, a deeper exploration of their bilateral ties and partnerships in the Indo-Pacific is essential. As Ottawa recalibrates its relations with friends and adversaries on the global stage, it also seeks to expand and diversify its engagement in the Indo-Pacific. This event, featuring renowned strategic affairs expert and India鈥檚 foremost scholar on geopolitics and foreign policy Dr. C. Raja Mohan, will explore the complexities of contemporary geopolitics, Canada-India relations, and their shared role in the Indo-Pacific.

Dr. C. Raja Mohan is a former Director of the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore, where he currently serves as a Visiting Research Professor. He is also an Adviser to the Council for Strategic and Defense Research in New Delhi and was the founding director of Carnegie India. Additionally, Dr. Mohan established the Asia Society Policy Institute in New Delhi. His research focuses on Asian geopolitics, Indian foreign policy, and the global governance of emerging technologies. A prolific author, he has written several books on these topics and regularly contributes foreign policy columns to major Indian and international outlets.
