The Department of Pediatrics offers听bursary awards for postgraduate training in pediatric subspecialty residency programs and听fellowship programs.
Alan Ross Academic Bursary Award
The Alan Ross Academic Bursary Award听is听available each year听to successful applicants pursuing听postgraduate听training in a pediatric specialty after having completed three听years of core training in pediatrics, or听equivalent. Successful candidates will intend to pursue an academic career in pediatrics听upon completion of听training. This award is for physicians who will be training mostly in research and who might have a varying degree of clinical contact.
IMPORTANT NOTE:听The Alan Ross Academic Bursary Award requires 70% research time throughout a听two-year training period.听Candidates seeking subspecialty certification will not be eligible for this bursary as the clinical time throughout a program听may not satisfy the minimum requirements of an accrediting body.听For example, for the听Adolescent Medicine program the听Royal College of Surgeons and听Physicians听of Canada requires the equivalent of 15听months (out of a total 24 months) of direct clinical experience.
Bursary Award:听$63,000/year,听no benefits, and covers tuition fees.
Length of funding:听Maximum 2 years
