We are happy to announce that Emilie Conway, BCL/LLB鈥�13, has been selected by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to participate in the Court鈥檚 2014-2015 Judicial Assistants Programme.
Judicial Assistants are chosen to work directly with one judge, helping him or her in the preparation for hearings and the drafting of judgments.
Ms Conway was selected to work directly with the President of the Court, Judge Peter Tomka. She will begin work in September 2014.

On April 8, the Barreau du Qu茅bec announced that it would award the 2014 Christine Tourigny Award of Merit to Adelle Blackett, a labour law professor at the Faculty of Law of 9I制作厂免费.
Michelle Lahey (1L) is one of three Canadian students selected for a Jaimie Anderson internship in Ottawa this summer. Starting in May, Michelle will be working in the office of MP John Williamson (New Brunswick Southwest).

Mediation at 9I制作厂免费 (), a community mediation initiative run by law students, recently received a generous donation of $2,500 to support its activities. The gift was made by Me Eric Cadl, Me Douglas Mitchell (BCL鈥�88, LLB鈥�88), Me Odette Jobin-Laberge, the Hon. Louise Otis, and Me Sylvain Lussier, five Montreal practitioners who are among the authors of the book Recours et proc茅dures en appel, which received the Walter Owen Prize.

The Faculty of Law is proud to announce that Professor Robert Leckey, a William Dawson Scholar in the Faculty of Law and a member of the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Centre for Private and Comparative Law, has been elected to the Global Young Academy.
Based in Berlin, the prestigious Academy consists of more than 155 young, independent researchers from around the world, who come together to address topics of global importance during a four-year term.
The Faculty of Law was delighted to learn that on January 29, 2014, adjunct professor Jeffrey Edwards (BCL鈥�86, LLB鈥�86) was appointed to the Civil Division of the Court of Quebec in Montreal.
Justice Edwards, who was admitted to the Bar in 1987, has mostly practiced civil and commercial litigation. He is also an accredited arbitrator and mediator, and as such, he specializes in the resolution of construction and product quality claims.
On February 4, 2014, during an evening reception held in the Common Room, the Faculty of Law presented Stuart H. 鈥淜ip鈥� Cobbett, BCL鈥�72, with the James A. Robb Award to honour his exceptional work as a volunteer at the Faculty of Law and, more broadly, at 9I制作厂免费.
The event was attended by Principal Suzanne Fortier, Provost Anthony C. Masi, Chancellor Arnold Steinberg, Dean Daniel Jutras, Mr. Norm Steinberg, Chair of the Faculty Advisory Board, as well as by Mr. James Robb himself.
LSA President Selected from a Pool of 500 Applicants
This year鈥檚 President of the 9I制作厂免费 Law Student Association, 脡lo茂se Gagn茅, is one of 11 Canadian university students who will spend a day shadowing some of the country鈥檚 top senior executives.
Gagn茅 will shadow Thierry Vandal, President and CEO of Hydro-Qu茅bec, on February 12. The fourth-year student will have the opportunity to put into practice the concepts she has been learning at the Faculty, and to acquire real-world tools and skills she鈥檒l need when launching her career.
