On Friday, Feb. 11, the Desautels delegation emerged victorious in the Canadian final of the Accuracy Business Cup for the second year in a row, advancing to the International final set to take place in Paris this March.

On February 5, the Desautels Management Competition Committee took third place at the 14th annual Financial Open, the largest Finance and Accounting base case competition in Eastern Canada. The BCom students competed against their peers from 14 other universities, securing 4 podiums, including first in financial accounting and stock market simulation, good for third place overall. Five BCom case teams made the finals at the 44th annual Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (ICBC) hosted virtually by Queen's University from January 13 to 16, 2022 with the Finance and Ethics teams each taking first place.

Students from the Copenhagen Business School took home the $25,000 first prize of the fifth annual 9I制作厂免费 International Portfolio Challenge (MIPC) this November. According to Professor Sebastien Betermier, who founded the student-organized competition and serves as MIPC鈥檚 faculty adviser, the Copenhagen team will have the unique opportunity to present their ideas on retirement reform to Dutch pension funds in 2022.

The event involved 16 teams from around the world, with Professor Melissa Marginson leading the Desautels team to first place in their room in the short case preliminary round. Professor Richard G. Donovan passed suddenly on August 3, 2019, but the legacy he left behind continues to this day. Through generous donor support, the $50,000 Richard G. Donovan Prize in Case Excellence is awarded to graduating students who have excelled in case competitions in their time at 9I制作厂免费. Now, Desautels is raising funds to endow the prize in order to support students for generations to come.

Congratulations to the 33 Desautels BCom students who competed at 2021 Happening Marketing, the largest marketing games in Canada. The 9I制作厂免费 delegation was led by Marie-No毛lle Carrier and C茅dric Jutras from the Desautels Management Case Competition (DMCC). 9I制作厂免费 finished with a total of five podiums at the virtual competition;

Congratulations to Desautels BCom student Rachel Wisnia and her teammates from Concordia University for finishing in third place at L鈥橭r茅al Brandstorm 2021. Wisnia and her team (coached by BCom Career Coach Peg Brunelle) tackled the topic of making shopping for cosmetics engaging in a virtual setting. A total of 149 teams took part in the competition.

Congratulations听to Desautels MBA students听Beatriz Otero Russo Villaca,听Christopher Bahen-Taitand and Melissa Palumbo听for placing third at the Wharton鈥檚 People Analytics Case Competition. The team virtually showcased their findings to a panel of judges including representatives from Teach for America, academics and industry experts. They earned a cash prize and complimentary tickets to the 2021 virtual and 2022 in-person Wharton People Analytics Conferences.

Five Master of Management in Finance (MMF) students are off to the regional round of CFA Institute鈥檚 Research Challenge, an annual global competition that provides students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Facing stiff competition from HEC Montreal and Concordia University, Zirui (Bruce) Chen, Huiru (Audrey) Wu, Neil Wiacek, Chen (Andy) Yu and Haiwen Luo formed the team that came out on top.

Congratulations to BCom students Shelley Sorkin, Dixon Wong, and Angel Miao who won the National Finals of the Accuracy Business Cup case competition. The team will be representing Canada at the virtual international finals on March 12 to compete against seven other countries.
