Aparna Nadig, PhD, grew up in the United States as the daughter of South Asian immigrants, and immigrated to Tiohti脿:ke/Montr茅al for a faculty聽 position at 9I制作厂免费. After becoming a Canadian citizen, realizing she knew nearly nothing about Indigenous peoples of now-called Canada, she committed herself to learning about Indigenous history and current perspectives. She has been a faculty member in 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 School of Communication Sciences and Disorders for over 15 years, where she gained experience in Health Professions training program admissions processes as Chair of Admissions for the clinical master鈥檚 program in Speech Language Pathology.
听贬别谤 studies language development, social communication and social cognition through an intersectional lens, focusing on people on the autism spectrum as well as neurotypicals, and on bilinguals/minority language speakers. She is passionate about opening doors to increase diversity, equity and inclusion in academic institutions.
Working with IHPP team, led by Indigenous priorities, she honored to contribute toward the critical goals of training more Indigenous health professionals in a safe and supportive environment, as well as educating current faculty and staff and future health professionals about the health needs of Indigenous peoples.
